Amazon To Shutter All Of Its US Popup Stores

Amazon is a company that built themselves up on being the retailer of the future, where in their early days they were one of the few online retailers in a world still filled with brick and mortar stores. These days, however, it is a different story as Amazon seems to be trying out the idea of selling their products in physical stores.

This has manifested itself in the form of cashless grocery stores, bookstores (the irony), and also Popup Stores placed within other brick and mortar stores where they tried to hawk products like the Kindle and whatnot. However according to a report from The Wall Street Journal, that is expected to change. Amazon has since confirmed that they will be shutting down all of its popup stores in the US.

This was confirmed by an Amazon spokeswoman who told the publication, “After much review, we came to the decision to discontinue our pop-up kiosk program.” It is unclear why Amazon has decided to shut these popup stores down, but presumably they weren’t working out the way Amazon had intended.

That being said, this hasn’t deterred the company from opening more brick and mortar stores. Amazon also stated their plans to open more bookstores later this year, along with what the company calls 4-star stores which carries products that have a minimum four-star rating, which could explain why Amazon is working so hard at trying to take fake reviews down.
