Very rarely you’d see a company tell its users to shift to a competing platform but Microsoft is doing just that. The company gave up on Windows-powered Mobile phones quite a while back and is now gearing up to kill the platform. It’s recommending to Windows 10 Mobile users that they should switch to iOS or Android.
A change has been spotted on the Windows 10 Mobile support page on Microsoft’s website. It tells Windows 10 Mobile users that Microsoft will stop sending out “new security updates, non-security hotfixes, free assisted support options, or technical content updates from Microsoft for free” starting December 10th, 2019.
That’s not all. Devices that are running Windows 10 Mobile version 1703 won’t receive updates starting from June 11th, 2019. What this simply means is that Microsoft won’t be supporting these devices beyond the aforementioned date.
A few may receive updates prior to that date but even that can’t be guaranteed. “With the Windows 10 Mobile OS end of support, we recommend that customers move to a supported Android or iOS device,” the company says on the support page.
