The ongoing government shutdown has affected countless U.S. Federal Workers as they have not received their paychecks. In order to give them a helping hand while the politicians figure things out, PayPal has announced that it will offer $25 million in interest-free credit to the federal workers. The credit is meant to ease some of the financial pinch that these workers have been facing since the shutdown.
The partial shutdown has been going on since more than four weeks now and it’s the longest in the country’s history. It has left 800,000 federal workers across the country without paychecks.
U.S. federal employees who use PayPal Credit will be able to receive an interest-free advance of $500 each. The $500 advance is the equivalent of one week’s take home and it’s available for any existing or new PayPal Credit users who are federal employees.
This program is going to last until the government shutdown ends and employees get their first paycheck. They will not be required to pay any interest on the advance that they receive.
Employees who request a credit will receive it in up to three business days, according to PayPal. The cash advance will be deposited in their bank account from the date that their employment is verified by PayPal.
We're committing $25 million in interest-free cash advances to help U.S. federal employees impacted by the government shutdown. Please help us spread the word: https://t.co/j51wn1h1SX
