L’Oréal’s Wearable Sensor Tracks Your UV Exposure The Entire Day

L’Oreal unveiled its UV Sense prototype Sensor earlier this year and the company today launched a full-fledged wearable sensor that anyone can buy. The La Roche-Posay My Skin Track UV sensor can track your exposure to UV radiation throughout the entire day. Ultraviolet radiation is bad for the skin and eyes. It can even cause skin cancer.

The wearable sensor can easily clip on to clothes and it works through an LED which captures UV light. The sensor then transfers the data to the phone over NFC. The companion app can let you track UV radiation levels and warn you when you have been exposed to dangerous levels of UV radiation.

The sensor is capable of measuring UVB exposure too and can store data for three months before needing to be synced. The app will include shortcuts to purchase skincare products from L’Oréal’s skincare brand La Roche-Posay.

L’Oréal’s wearable UV sensor is available for purchase starting today. It’s available in the United States exclusively from Apple Stores and the company’s own website for $59.95. It’s being sold at Apple Stores as well likely because the sensor integrates with Apple’s HealthKit platform on iOS devices. The app is available for both Android and iOS.
