As you might have heard, Acer recently launched the Chromebook 514 laptop. However if Chrome OS isn’t your cup of tea and you’re after a Windows-based machine, not to worry as Acer has you covered as well. The company has announced two series of brand new laptops in the form of the Swift 3 and Swift 5.
Starting with the Swift 5, Acer claims that this is the lightest 15-Inch laptop ever made which weighs in at 900 grams. This is thanks to the use of magnesium-lithium alloy for the chassis of the laptop which according to Acer, makes it particularly durable as it prevents any kind of bending or twisting.
Users will be able to choose between 8th Generation Intel Core i7-8565U and Core i5-8265U processors, and the laptops are said to be able to run for up to 10 hours on a single charge, with Windows 10 calling the shots. The laptop will also be able to support up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of Nvme Pcie Ssd storage, with a 15-inch Full HD IPS touchscreen display.
For those who want a small laptop, the Swift 3 will also be available in both 13-inch and 14-inch models. They won’t be quite as light as the 15-inch Swift 5, but these laptops have been designed for those who require mobile connectivity as they will support 4G LTE connections (we suppose you could always use your phone as a hotspot in a pinch).
They will be powered by Intel Core processors, support up to 8GB of RAM, and 512GB of NVMe PCIe SSD storage. There is also the option for users to add a discrete GPU in the form of the NVIDIA GeForce MX150.
