Fujifilm X-T3 Rumored To Be Announced At Photokina 2018

The Fujifilm X-T2 was officially announced back in 2016 which means that the camera is about 2 years old. The good news is that if you were hoping to see where Fujifilm might be taking its flagship X-T series of mirrorless cameras, the folks at Fuji Rumors are claiming that we might not have to wait too long to find out.

According to their sources, they claim that the X-T3 is expected to make an appearance at Photokina 2018. The event is scheduled for September 2018 which means that we still have a bit of waiting to do, but if true it means that we can expect to see it launched later this year or possibly early next year.

The report goes on to claim that Fujifilm will be bumping the megapixels on the camera to 26MP. They have also heard the possibility that it could feature a stacked sensor similar to that of the Sony A9 which should allow it to be faster at shooting, autofocusing, and gauging exposure.

Note that there is no mention of whether the X-T3 will be of the full-frame variety, something that camera makers are bringing to their mirrorless products these days. However Fujifilm did mention back in 2015 the reasons why they are not going full-frame, and it seems that philosophy is still holding up today, at least that’s what the rumors are hinting at. Either way take it with a grain of salt, but with the X-T1 announced in 2014 followed by the X-T2 in 2016, we suppose seeing the X-T3 announced in 2018 doesn’t seem entirely out of the question.
