Samsung Reportedly Interested In Acquiring Nokia Health As Well

Nokia bolstered its health division with the acquisition of Withings in 2016 but it appears that the company feels that the division is weighing it down. An internal memo was leaked recently which revealed that Nokia doesn’t see a path forward for its digital health business and reports now suggest that it’s looking to sell this division. Google is believed to be interested and a new report claims that Samsung wants to pick it up as well.

Le Monde reports that Samsung is one of the four companies that are interested in Acquiring Nokia Health. The others include Google and two French companies.

Nokia purchased Withings for $192 million but it seems like the company is going to have to book a loss on this deal. According to the report, the takeover hasn’t been a success and whoever ends up buying the division from Nokia is likely going to pay less than what Nokia did in 2016.

Samsung and Google will both be good homes for the division as they already have a portfolio of connected devices. The former is particularly involved in the digital health market as it sells a range of smartwatches and fitness-tracking activity bands.

No word as yet, though, from Nokia about a final deal.
