Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge owners have anxiously been waiting to finally get a taste of Oreo on their handsets and while it seems that the wait will soon be over for them, Verizon subscribers who own these handsets were briefly surprised yesterday when the carrier posted details of the Oreo update for the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge. It turns out the update it’s sending out isn’t Oreo but the support pages for these devices were updated with the information about Oreo instead.
Verizon updated its support pages for the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 Edge to confirm that a new update is rolling out for these handsets and that it brings the April 2018 security patch as well as Android 8.0 Oreo.
That’s not true, though, because as soon as users updated their phones they found out that they were still on Nougat and hadn’t been updated to Oreo. All U.S. carrier variants of the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge running Oreo were recently certified by the Wi-Fi Alliance so it may not be long before the update is out.
