If you’ve ever wanted File Explorer on Windows 10 to get a dark Mode rejoice because Microsoft will soon make your wish come true. It has finally added a dark mode to File Explorer on Windows 10. It has only been released as part of the latest Insider Preview right now but it’s only a matter of time before all Windows 10 users are able to toggle dark mode ON and OFF for File Explorer.
Windows 10 already offers users a dark mode that they can use if they want to switch to a darker theme. However, the implementation is inconsistent. It works in most native apps and even some third-party apps but for some odd reason it never worked in File Explorer.
You won’t be irked by that in the near future as Microsoft is adding dark Mode Support to File Explorer on Windows 10. References to the dark mode have been discovered in the latest Redstone 5 insider build and even though the functionality hasn’t been enabled in the build just yet, the references confirm that Microsoft is working on this functionality internally.
File Explorer will also work with dark mode like all other system apps so just the one toggle will switch all of them to the darker theme.
