Facebook Messenger Can Send 360-Degree Photos And HD Videos Now

Facebook has released a minor update for Facebook Messenger today which makes the app more useful for sending multimedia content. The app has been updated with support for 360-Degree Photos and HD videos. Facebook Messenger users can now send 360-degree videos through the ap as well as HD video up to 720p, but there’s a caveat.

For some odd reason, 720p video can’t be captured using the in-app camera because it’s being kept at a lower resolution. However, if the HD footage has been captured in advance it can then be sent using Facebook Messenger.

Same goes for 360-degree photos. You can’t take them using the in-app camera but if they have been captured outside Messenger, they can now be shared with friends and family members in the app. Messenger will automatically convert such photos into images which the recipient can draw around to view.

The HD videos and 360-degree photos will be easy to identify in Messenger. Users will see a compass icon on the right-hand side of a panoramic photo while videos will be easily identifiable with a HD marker.

Facebook Messenger users across the globe can send 360-degree photos in the app on both iOS and Android. HD quality videos are available to users on both platforms in Australia, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Hong Kong, Japan, Netherlands, Norway, Romania, Singapore, South Korea, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, UK and the U.S.
