Disney last year had announced that they would be launching their own streaming service and that the platform would play host to exclusive shows from the Marvel and Star Wars brands. Now in a report from Deadline, they have managed to “confirm” that the service is expected to launch with Star Wars and Marvel shows.
While Disney had confirmed that their streaming service would contain Marvel and Star Wars shows, the report basically confirms that these shows will be available at launch. This includes the previously reported Star Wars TV series, a live-action Marvel show, an animated series based on Monsters Inc., a High School Musical TV show, and also movies such as Lady and the Tramp (perhaps it could be a live-action version), The Paper Magician, and Stargirl.
It has also been revealed that (as expected) Disney’s streaming service will not offer up R-rated content. Instead it seems that R-rated content will be pushed onto Hulu, and that for now Netflix will get to hang onto the Marvel superhero series that they’ve developed (Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, The Punisher).
