Razer Phone’s Latest Update Brings HDR Support For Netflix

Earlier this month during CES 2018, Razer announced that they were working on some updates for their Razer Phone, one of which is that they will be bringing Hdr Support for Netflix onto the handset. The good news is that Razer Phone owners did not have to wait too long as the update is now here.

The update weighs in close to 250MB and with it, users can expect HDR support when watching Netflix. For those unfamiliar with HDR, it stands for High Dynamic Range and can be commonly found in photography, where it combines multiple photos with different exposures into a single image, resulting in a photo where the colors, contrast, shadows, and so on are vivid and have a wide range to them as opposed to looking “flat”.

This concept has been brought over onto our displays in more recent times, resulting in displays and videos also looking more vivid in terms of their output. With this update, it also makes the Razer Phone the only phone in the work to support HDR on Netflix, which when combined with its 120Hz display and Dolby 5.1 audio playback should give users an excellent video watching experience.

In addition to the HDR support, the update will also bring about some fixes/improvements to the camera (which was admittedly one of the phone’s weaker points). The update should be live so do keep an eye out for it if you haven’t been prompted to update already.
