Our smartphone cameras these days have come a long way from back in the day, and are now extremely capable of snapping stunning photos and videos that you might have otherwise assumed came from a more expensive, dedicated camera. So much so that Director Steven Soderbergh is considering shooting exclusively with the iPhone in the future.
This was revealed in a report from IndieWire in which Soderbergh was asked about his movie “Unsane” which was shot entirely on an iPhone. He was asked if he could consider shooting exclusively with the device, in which he replied by saying that it’s something that he would think about.
He claims, “I’d have to have a pretty good reason not to be thinking about that first… There’s a philosophical obstacle a lot of people have about the size of the capture device. I don’t have that problem. I look at this as potentially one of the most liberating experiences that I’ve ever had as a filmmaker, and that I continue having. The gets that I felt moment to moment were so significant that this is, to me, a new chapter.”
