Disney Reportedly ‘Closing In’ On Deal To Buy Fox

For all the Marvel fans out there who would love to see the X-Men and the Fantastic Four be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, you will be pleased to learn that the possibility of that happening has increased. In a report from CNBC, it seems that Disney is “closing in” on reaching a Deal to buy Fox.

The report cites a source who says that the deal could be finalized as soon as next week. This deal will see Disney acquire Fox’s studio and television production assets, leaving just its news and sports shows. Apparently Fox has also been in talks with Comcast on an acquisition, but apparently the talks between Fox and Disney have progressed more significantly.

This isn’t the first time we’ve heard these rumors. It was initially reported early last month, but back then the report seemed to suggest that the talks have stalled, indicating that maybe the deal might not happen. However the latest report is more optimistic about it, so we guess we’ll just have to wait until next week to find out if the rumors pan out.

For those unfamiliar, Fox holds the movie rights to Marvel characters like the X-Men, Deadpool, and Fantastic Four, which is why we haven’t seen those characters part of the MCU. Assuming this deal goes through, we can imagine that Marvel will want to reboot the X-Men and Fantastic Four movies and incorporate them into the MCU.
