The Garage team at Microsoft churns out new and interesting apps and they’re keeping up with their tradition to push the boundaries. Microsoft Garage has released a new app called Fetch! which will help you find the best dog for you. It uses the iPhone’s camera or photo library to identify and classify dogs by breed and to inform you what kind of human personality fits best with specific breeds.

The app even has a fun feature in which it takes an informed guess on what kind of dog you or your friends might be. That’s obviously of no real use since you can’t turn into a dog but then again, it’s just for fun.

Microsoft Garage has released the Fetch! app just in time for the American Kennel Club’s Meet & Compete and the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show. It shows the potential for Microsoft researchers’ advances in artificial intelligence and machine learning to deliver interesting results.

Fetch! has been designed for repeat use and you’ll find after giving it a few tries that it’s a very catchy app. If the app comes across a dog whose breed isn’t known it will show a percentage of the closest breed. Tapping the percentage leads to the top five breeds that could be in the dog.

The Fetch! app is now available as a free download from the App Store.
