Essential Phone’s 360 Degree Camera Detailed

The much-awaited Essential Phone was finally unveiled today officially. It comes from Andy Rubin, the co-founder of Android, who runs his own company called Essential now. The price and specs of the new handset have been confirmed. It has also been revealed that it’s going to have a modular character and that one of the first modules for this handset is its 360 Degree Camera.

The Essential Phone features magnetic connectors at the back where modules can be attached. The 360 Degree camera module will easily clip to the rear of the smartphone. It’s lightweight at just 35 grams and features dual 12 megapixel fisheye lens which enable it to capture 4K 360-degree video at 30 frames-per-second.

It even includes four microphones for capturing audio while it will draw its power from the handset itself. The accessory power pins will help it remain charged while it’s clipped on the back of the device.

This is going to be a big differentiating factor for this device in a smartphone market that’s crowded with countless flagship options. The company developed it with the aim of making it easy to capture and share 360 degree content using a smartphone in mind.

Those who buy an Essential Phone now will be able to buy the 360 degree camera with it for $50. It will be priced at $199 separately. Both products have only been launched in the United States right now and are available via the company’s website.
