Apple Watch Sales Reportedly Doubled Since Last Year

Ever since Apple released the Apple Watch, the company has been pretty cagey with regards to how many units that they have sold. Unfortunately fast forward to today and that hasn’t changed, although during Apple’s recent earnings call, Apple’s CEO Tim Cook revealed that sales of the wearable have nearly doubled year over year.

Like we said the exact numbers are unclear, but according to Creative Strategies’ Ben Bajarin, he has put that number at around 3.2 million, but since we don’t know the official numbers we’ll just have to take that with a grain of salt for now. In addition to the doubled sales, Cook also revealed that the amount of revenue generated by Apple’s wearables is the size of a Fortune 500 company.

To give you some context, the smallest company in the Fortune 500 list is Burlington Stores which posted $5.1 billion in revenue, which means that Apple’s wearables have made at the very least that amount which is a very impressive feat and no small accomplishment. Apple is expected to announce a successor to the Apple Watch Series 2 later this year, which is supposed to come with new features like SIM card support, although the general consensus seems to be that Apple will most likely be maintaining the design.
