Tim Cook Blames ‘Pause’ In iPhone 7 Sales On iPhone 8 Rumors

According to Apple’s latest financials, Iphone sales are still continuing to decline, although admittedly the recent drop wasn’t as bad as some have expected and was bolstered largely by the iPhone 7 Plus whose demand was greater than Apple had anticipated. However it seems that there is a chance that sales might not even have declined at all.

Responding to a question regarding a research survey that found a nine year low in iPhone purchase intent, Cook blamed the “pause” in iPhone 7 sales on the rumors and anticipation on future iPhones, which we can only assume he meant the iPhone 8.

According to Cook, “But in general what we are seeing, we’re seeing what we believe to be a pause in purchases on iPhone which we believe are due to the earlier and much more frequent reports about future iPhones. And so that part is clearly going on, and it could be what’s behind the data. I don’t know but we are seeing that, in full transparency.”

Is he right? We suppose there is quite a bit on anticipation building regarding the next-gen iPhone. This is because the iPhone is rumored to pack all kinds of high-end features like an OLED screen, wireless charging, a brand new design, and more, which we guess might give some potential customers pause when deciding whether or not they should purchase the iPhone 7.
