Since not all gamers have full use of their limbs, it doesn’t make sense for developers to exclude them from playing their games just because someone can’t use their hands properly, or who might be color blind, hard of hearing, and so on. In fact we’ve seen how such features have helped some disabled gamers enjoy games like Overwatch.
Now it looks like we have another heartwarming story to share with regards to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, the latest title to be released for the Nintendo Switch. In a post on Reddit, a father of three shared how the Auto Drive feature in the game allowed his 4-year old daughter to enjoy the game despite having suffered from a stroke.
According to Redditor MyAudioDNA, “Well, thanks to Mario Kart’s new Auto Drive feature, she can now steer with her left hand and let the game drive for her or vice versa. I’m sure this feature will be an annoyance to many, but for my daughter, who would otherwise not really be able to participate, it is the best feature ever added to a Mario Kart game.”
