Google Downgrading Nexus 6 To Android 7.0

If you’re a Nexus 6 owner, the next over-the-air update that you install on your handset is going to downgrade to Android 7.0. It seems that they have been handed the short end of the stick. This handset received Nougat quite late and then it also received Android 7.1.1 later than many other Nexus devices. Now Google has decided to bring it back down to Android 7.0 from Android 7.1.

Even the update to Android 7.1.1 wasn’t without its problems. Soon after the update was released, several bugs came up which were addressed in the March security update but that wasn’t the end of it because that update ended up temporarily breaking Android Pay.

Countless reports have come in from Nexus 6 owners who say that the over-the-air update that Google is sending out now is bringing their devices down to Android 7.0 from Android 7.1.1 for some reason.

Google is yet to explain why it’s doing that. It’s causing a lot of problems for those who have installed the update because almost every app is crashing after the most recent update is installed.

It’s pretty odd for this to happen as that’s not how software update works. Hopefully, Google will be out with an explanation soon which would reveal why it’s putting Nexus 6 owners through all of this.
