Like many of its rivals, Sony came out with a handful of new TVs at the Consumer Electronics Show 2017 in January. The company has now confirmed the pricing and Availability Details for its new Oled 4K TVs. Customers in the United States can get their pre-orders in starting today. The new TVs will be released next month. They’re not going to be cheap as prices start at $5,000.
Sony’s new A1E OLED TVs have support for 4K resolution, HDR10, Dolby Vision, and HLG. This means that customers won’t have to look elsewhere for HDR support. The TVs are powered by Sony’s new 4K HDR Processor X1 Extreme engine. The chip’s job is to make 4K content look gorgeous and initial reviews from the CES show floor suggest that it does the job very well.
The A1E OLED TV lineup also has what Sony calls an “Acoustic Surface” sound system. This is what makes it seem like the sound is coming directly from the display instead of the speakers that are built into the TV.
The TVs have an easel so there’s no conventional stand, this easel can be folded in flush with the TV if it’s going to be mounted on the wall. They run on Google’s Android TV platform.
