Microsoft confirmed back in November last year that it was working on a new tool called Microsoft Teams. It’s basically Redmond’s very own Slack rival. Microsoft Teams was launched in a limited preview last year and the company recently confirmed that it would be made available to all Office 365 users soon. That day is today. Microsoft Teams is available now to all Office 365 users.

All 85 million monthly active users of Office 365 can now access Microsoft Teams and that too, for free. Microsoft has launched native apps of Teams for iOS, Android, and Windows. It’s also available as a web app.

Microsoft has announced around 150 integrations with third-party services like Hootsuite and Zendesk. Additional features include support for chatbots, a plethora of customization options, and more. The company received a good response for this product during the limited preview phase with more than 50,000 organizations signing up to try it out.

The company hasn’t confirmed as yet when it’s going to expand Teams beyond the Office 365 ecosystem. “We’ve had some discussions but right now remain focused on our huge user base,” said Mira Lane, the UX lead for Microsoft Teams.

With Slack boasting more than 5 million daily active users and more than 1.5 million paid accounts, Microsoft Teams has a lot of ground to cover before it can take on its rival.
