Apple Hires Jailbreak Expert To Improve iPhone’s Security

As you might have heard, a recent Wikileaks report has revealed that for years, the CIA has kept a list of Security vulnerabilities and exploits that were related to smartphones across multiple platforms, Apple’s iOS included. Now Apple claims to have fixed most of them, and are in the processing of addressing the remaining one, but one can’t be blamed for feeling paranoid.

However the good news is that Apple is definitely looking to beef up its security because it has been revealed that the company has hired jailbreak expert and security researcher Jonathan Zdziarski. For those unfamiliar with his work, Zdziarski used to be part of the iPhone Dev Team and Chronic Dev Team and was known as “NerveGas” while in the jailbreaking community.

According to his announcement, “I’m pleased to announce that I’ve accepted a position with Apple’s Security Engineering and Architecture team, and am very excited to be working with a group of like minded individuals so passionate about protecting the security and privacy of others.”

“This decision marks the conclusion of what I feel has been a matter of conscience for me over time. Privacy is sacred; our digital lives can reveal so much about us – our interests, our deepest thoughts, and even who we love. I am thrilled to be working with such an exceptional group of people who share a passion to protect that.” Of course this doesn’t necessarily “fix” everything, but it’s good to know that Apple is stepping up their game when it comes to the security and privacy of iOS.
