All iPhones Rumored To Use OLED Screens In 2019

We know that it is rather exciting to hear that after years, Apple will be finally making the shift to Oled screens for 2017’s iPhone. However the popular rumor right now is that only one model of the iPhone will use OLED this year, and that is the rumored 5.8-inch iPhone that will apparently sport a curved display as well.

So does that mean that come 2018 we can expect Apple to make the full transition? Apparently not because according to a report from Patently Apple (via 9to5Mac) who cites a South Korean report, it seems that Apple will only be making the shift to use OLEDs for all of its Iphones in the year 2019, which means that next year we might still be seeing a mix of LCD and OLED iPhones from the Cupertino company.

The report reads, “Apple is expected to adopt OLED for about 60 million units or 40 percent of the iPhone 8 this year and double the adoption next year. It aims to use OLED for all its new iPhones by 2019.” We have heard rumors dating back to 2015 that Apple might make the complete shift to OLED in 2018, but if this report is accurate, it seems that we might have to wait an additional year.

However either way this doesn’t change the fact that we might still expect LCD iPhones this year that will be part of Apple’s “normal” lineup, with the OLED 5.8-inch iPhone expected to be part of the 10th anniversary iPhone, but until we hear from Apple officially, take it with a grain of salt for now.
