Galaxy Note 5 Nougat Update Gets Wi-Fi Certification

Samsung released the Android 7.0 Nougat update for the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 Edge last month and it’s yet to bring this update to other devices. Previous reports have revealed that the company is working on Nougat for several devices, including but not limited to the Galaxy S6 series and the Galaxy Note 5. A new report reveals that the Galaxy Note 5 Nougat update has received its Wi-Fi certification.

Galaxy Note 5 variants for three major U.S. carriers namely Verizon, AT&T, and Sprint have all received their Wi-Fi certification for Android 7.0 Nougat. This is a big indication that the release may not be that far off for these devices.

Naturally, it goes without saying that since these are carrier-locked devices, users may still have to wait for several weeks before they get a taste of Nougat given that carriers have a habit of holding up updates for weeks as they run their own tests on the firmware.

Nevertheless, Galaxy Note 5 owners on the aforementioned carriers should rest assured that the update will arrive soon as the testing process is moving along nicely and it shouldn’t be long before it’s time for the update to be released.

On the other hand, Samsung is still gradually rolling out Android 7.0 Nougat for the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge in more markets. A recent report claims that the Galaxy S6 is going to receive Nougat by the end of this month.
