New Asus Chromebook Leak Confirms USB Type-C Port

USB Type-C is the next-generation USB standard but it’s going to need some time to be common on devices. Some flagship smartphones have ditched the USB 2.0 ports in favor of the next-generation standard but there’s still a long way to go. The port is gradually making its way to other devices like notebooks as well and it appears that the new Asus Chromebook is going to jump on the bandwagon as well.

Chrome Unboxed has spotted a new Asus Chromebook Leak, the device bears model number ASUS C302CA. The leak actually came via online retailer Newegg which published the landing page for this device ahead of schedule. The page revealed the specs and details about the next Asus Chromebook.

The listing has since been removed from Newegg’s website. It revealed that this latest Chromebook features a 12.5 inch full HD touchscreen display which can actually flip around to enable users to use the device as a tablet too. It’s powered by a 2.2 GHz Intel Core m3 processor with 4GB RAM and 64GB of storage. This particular configuration was listed for $499 on Newegg, it includes two USB Type-C ports.

It’s not hard to imagine when Asus will officially unveil this Chromebook. The Consumer Electronics Show 2017 takes place next month and it’s highly likely at Asus will announce its new Chromebook at the event in Las Vegas. Stay tuned for official pricing and availability information.
