You might have heard by now that Nokia is making a return to the smartphone market. The company has licensed its infamous brand to another Finnish company called HMD Global that’s going to use the iconic Nokia brand for the Smartphones that it manufactures and sells. There have been conflicting reports about the smartphones that HMD will release in the coming year. The latest claims that at least five Nokia-branded smartphones will be released by the third quarter of 2017.
HMD Global has previously said that it doesn’t intend to limit itself to just one segment of the market so we can be sure that the company is going to launch devices that cover the high-end, mid-range, and low-end segments.
Citing unnamed industry sources, Taiwanese publication DigiTimes reports that HMD Global is going to release four new Nokia Smartphones between Q2 and Q3 2017. This doesn’t include the rumored Nokia D1C that’s going to be the first flagship that HMD unveils at MWC 2017 in February. It’s expected to offer the D1C in two variants.
