Do you sometimes find yourself bombarded with a ton of articles that you’d like to read but don’t have the time? There are a couple of different apps that can save articles for you to read later. However if you prefer native solutions, you’ll be pleased to learn that Chrome 55 for Android has been released with an offline “Downloads” feature.

So what does this mean for users? Basically you will now be able to download websites, audio, and video for offline playback. This means that if you are somewhere without an internet connection, or somewhere where the internet connection is a bit spotty, you will be able to read these websites and watch these videos offline, assuming you saved them beforehand.

This will come in handy when you’re on the plane and you want to catch up on some articles. In addition to the feature, Chrome 55 for Android will include improvements made to the contextual search UI, as well as to RAM usage. This is aimed more at devices that have under 1GB of RAM in which Chrome will now use up to 35% less memory than before.

All devices will still get the feature, but chances are those with lower amounts of RAM will be able to notice it even more. The update should already be live so hit up the Google Play Store for the download.
