The Exilim FR110H is a new rugged action Camera that Casio has just announced. You might be shocked to see that it only has a 1.9 megapixel sensor but there’s a perfectly good reason for that. Greater megapixels don’t necessarily mean greater quality, there’s more to it than meets the eye. Casio’s latest action camera has bigger pixels which mean improved performance in low-light conditions, which is what the Exilim FR110H is meant for.
Casio has aimed this camera towards customers who want something that can capture stills and record video in the dark. The Exilim FR110H is capable of capturing video in full HD 1080p resolution at a maximum ISO of 51200.
The sensor itself is small at 1/2.8 inch and has a 20mm lens with f/2.8 aperture. It won’t really provide any revolutionary performance and you can certainly get better performance from a DSLR with a fast lens.
That being said, action cameras aren’t about the best image quality, they’re about enabling the user to capture footage that they otherwise won’t be able to.
