Warner Bros. Almost Put Neo From The Matrix Into Mortal Kombat 9

We know that when it comes to guest characters in the Mortal Kombat franchise, the developers have been pretty creative about who goes into it. For example we’ve had characters like Freddy Krueger, Predator, Jason Voorhees, and recently it seems that NetherRealm’s Ed Boon is teasing that Spawn could be a guest character as well.

However as much as we love to learn who could be the new guest character, it’s just as interesting to learn who might have been previously considered. Interestingly enough it seems that at one point in time, Neo from the Matrix movies was actually considered by the folks at Warner Bros. to be a possible character in Mortal Kombat 9.

At that time Warner Bros. was behind the title and was the game’s publisher. According to Boon, “They’re very collaborative. Like TV and movies and video games. Stuff like that. So that just kind of gave us access to some of these characters through whatever business deals they did.” Now obviously Neo did not make the cut but presumably it is because it did not fit in with the rest of the game.

However it was an interesting to think that at one point in time, we could have been fighting Neo from the Matrix in Mortal Kombat. So what do you guys think? Which other guest characters would you like to see make its way into the franchise?
