Microsoft Rumored To ‘End Sales’ Of Its Lumia Lineup In December

Lumia_950XL_1It is safe to say that the Windows Phone/Windows 10 Mobile platform isn’t quite as widespread as Microsoft would like it to be. The Redmond company has also been mum on their mobile plans for the near future, but could Microsoft be calling it quits as far as their Lumia lineup is concerned?

According to a report from WinBeta, that might be the case as they have heard from an anonymous source that Microsoft will apparently “end sales” of its Lumia Lineup by the end of the year. As it stands, the Lumia phones offered by Microsoft include the Lumia 550, Lumia 650, Lumia 950, and the Lumia 950 XL, meaning that by the end of the year all these phones could be gone.

We’re not quite sure what they mean by “end sales” – could it be that Microsoft is stopping actual sales, ending production, or could they be discontinuing the phones entirely? We guess we’ll just have to wait and see, but either way it doesn’t sound like very good news. The only upside is that Microsoft’s Director of Engineering Windows Fundamentals Laura Butler might have hinted at the Surface Phone’s existence.

According to Butler’s tweet, she writes, “Surface Phone not NOT confirmed. :-)” It’s an interesting tweet because a report from yesterday suggested that Microsoft might still be on the fence about launching the Surface Phone. In any case take it with a grain of salt, but we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled.
