When you think of Overclocked gadgets, you might think of graphics cards, processors, and so on. It’s not often that you hear about overclocked smartphones, but as it turns out over in China, one local retailer is apparently selling an overclocked version of the Xiaomi Mi 5 which should prove to be rather interesting.
According to the retailer GOME, this particular version of the Mi 5 comes with an overclocked CPU, RAM, and GPU, which basically means that the whole phone has been souped up. For those unfamiliar, the Mi 5 comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 clocked at 1.8GHz, an Adreno 530 GPU clocked at 510MHz, and 3GB of RAM clocked at 1333MHz.
With this “Extreme” edition of the Mi 5, the retailer has bumped the CPU up to 2.15GHz, GPU to 624MHz, and RAM to 1866MHz. No doubt that the phone should feel a lot faster, although we can only imagine that this comes at the expense of its battery life which should take quite a hit, not to mention the amount of heat generated could be worrying.
