Now you can easily track Uber rides of your family with the newly launched Trip Tracker feature of Uber. Safety should always be the first concern. Marie Hagman, Senior Product manager of Uber wrote in a blog post, “The next time one of your family members is headed out—you’ll know when they are on their way, which route they are taking and when they’ve arrived.”
Safety has been a major issue for Uber. Uber drivers are already accused for sexual assault (New Delhi, India) and kidnapping (Los Angeles, California). Uber checks background of the drivers but according to reports of August 2015, Uber checks have failed to reveal criminal records of 25 Uber drivers. Criminal records include child abuse, sexual assault and murder.
The Trip Tracker feature launched on Tuesday allows you to get each and every information about your family member. It gives information about source and destination of your family member. It also allows you to see the real time location of the cab. It sends you notification that your family member is taking a Uber ride.
The Trip Tracker Feature is an extension to Uber’s lately launched Family Profile feature. Family profile feature bills you for the rides of up to 10 people. Uber’s Family Profile feature is available world wide.
To activate the Trip Tracker feature, you need to ensure that you have added your family members to Family Profile list in the Uber App. A person will get added to your family profile list only if the person accepts the request for being added to the family list. If you cannot find option for Family Profile, make sure that you have downloaded latest version of the Uber App. Once you have downloaded the latest version, you can add family member by going to Menu > Settings > “Add a Family Profile.”
Once a person is added to your family profile, the person can request ride at your expense and you can track ride of the person. Lately, Uber had also launched a SafetyNet feature which allows you to share Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA) with five contacts.
To sum up, Uber’s Trip Tracker Feature allows you to track Uber rides of your family and you can have peace of mind. The Uber App sends you a notification that your family member is taking a Uber ride.
How it works?
An Uber spokeswoman said, “The feature is designed to give families an extra feeling of security by letting their loved ones know where they are while riding Uber, the route they are traveling, and exactly when they’ve arrived safely. We hope that it does give them peace of mind when their family members are on the go.”
