It’s difficult to remember passwords. The invention of Touch ID by Apple has made security more convenient. Till now we used to Unlock our Mac with passwords. What if we could unlock Mac with iPhone? It sounds cool if Apple comes out with such invention in its next OSX.
According to a report by MacRumors, Apple has already found out a way to unlock Mac with iPhone. The iPhone will use Bluetooth LE to connect with the Mac and the Touch ID in the iPhone will unlock the Mac. There’s a similar feature available in Apple Watch which allows an unlocked iPhone to provide access to the wearable without the need to enter a second password.
In simple words, your Mac will automatically get unlocked when you will bring your iPhone in the radius. iPhone will take help of Bluetooth to stay connected with your Mac.
As Apple’s WWDC conference is approaching, rumors about integrated fingerprint scanner in Mac are coming up. Apple has patented TOUCH ID technology long ago but its arrival in Mac(s) is not yet confirmed.
There’s already an app in the market called Knock with which you can unlock your mac using iPhone. But, for the functionality of this app, you need to install this app on both devices. You need to knock your iPhone to unlock the Mac. This app also uses Bluetooth to connect Mac with iPhone.
