Insider Hints iPhone 8, 7s, and 7s Plus Will Arrive on Time

Tags: iphone apple

Apple’s upcoming Iphone 7s and 7s Plus devices have allegedly entered small-scale production, while the high-end iPhone 8 (which was rumored to be delayed because of manufacturing issues) is in on track for a rollout within the same early-fall timeframe as its counterparts.

The news comes courtesy of iPhone tipster, Benjamin Geskin, who alleges that he received the news from sources affiliated with Foxconn Technology Group — Apple’s primary iPhone assembly partner based out of Zhengzhou-province, China.

Geskin shared the news in a series of Tweets published earlier this week, within which he went on to allege that Foxconn is currently running trial production of approximately 200 units per day, with plans to increase said production substantially as we draw nearer to the 2017 iPhone trio’s anticipated September unveiling.

In addition to providing insight into the fate of Apple’s 2017 iPhone models, Geskin’s most recent Tweets allude to a so-called “testing machine,” believed to be an iPhone 8 prototype, which has entered testing with an OLED display-embedded Touch ID sensor onboard. If accurate, the tip may allude to Apple having ironed out the kinks with its long-rumored under-the-glass Touch ID solution, which according to various accounts has proven to be a major obstacle for Apple, and may or may not make its way onto the iPhone 8 when all is said and done.

Of course, while there’s no guarantee that any Twitter tipster’s claims are accurate until proven otherwise, Geskin has provided fairly consistent information, and his leaks have been backed up by multiple sources over the last few months. That said, based on his conversations with sources in the Far East, he now claims that iPhone fans have nothing to worry about since all three iPhone models will “arrive on time” this September.

Piecing the Rumors Together

While Geskin’s recent claims certainly provide hope that Foxconn and Apple are on track for the usual September iPhone unveiling, it’s worth noting that other Apple insiders — including the historically accurate KGI Securities analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo — have recently provided information that’s somewhat contradictory to Geskin’s. In his latest iPhone 8 predictions, Kuo suggested that the high-end device is still likely to be delayed until October or November of this year, while in lieu of glass-embedded Touch ID, Apple may have resorted to a side-mounted fingerprint sensor that will reportedly “at least double the size” of iPhone’s current sleep/wake buttons.

Moral of the story being: while it would be wonderful to see an iPhone 8 arrive sooner than expected with a revolutionary new form-factor, we highly suggest taking this information with a grain of salt until the rumors are laid to rest.
