After a few years missing, Samsung has decided to start making gaming laptops too. Samsung jumps into the game with Notebook Odyssey machines, offered in 15 and 17 inch versions.
Both the notebook will rock Intel’s 7th Generation (Kaby Lake) Core i7 processors. The 15-inch Notebook Odyssey will come with up to a quad-core Intel Core i7 desktop CPU, and up to 32GB of 2.4GHz DDR4 RAM. This model will offer two SODIMM slots (the 17-inch model will have four).

The 15 inch version comes with an nVidia 1050, which is not bad. The one in the 17 inch version is yet to be confirmed, but chances are it will be a higher version. For storage you’ll have up to a 256GB PCIe SSD and a 1TB hard drive. You can arrange two SSDs in RAID 0 for faster performance.
Samsung will release the 15 inch version in February. Pricing starts at $1,199, and you’ll be able to choose either black or white. The 17 inch is due out in April, and no announcement of price yet.
Samsung hopes to at least grab some of the market share away from the other makers. Acer already offers Predators, Dell has Alienware, HP has Envy and Lenovo has Y. The gaming and VR market is one segment of PC poised for growth, as ultrabooks.
