Yahoo has made public the details of an alleged data breach that occurred in 2013. Yes, this is different from the one that took place in 2014.

Hackers might have gotten away with a billion user Account in 2013, according to a statement on Yahoo.com. This makes the hack the largest of its kind in history. In September, the company also revealed a breach in which hackers went away with 500 million accounts.

Yahoo said the stolen user account information may have included names, email addresses, telephone numbers, dates of birth, hashed passwords and, in some cases, encrypted or unencrypted security questions and answers.

Yahoo is still pinning the US Government on these hacks. They believe they are state sponsored attack. To fuel their suspicions, law enforcement approached the company with what user data, according to a third-party. The data also had forged cookies, which is the method the hackers used in the attack.

What next?

I say it here too, Just delete you account. There is nothing good left on Yahoo anyway. They have fallen behind over the years. And some of us have forgotten about their yahoo accounts, but have used the same username/password combination somewhere else on the internet.
