Microsoft Solitaire Collection now on Android and iOS

Microsoft has brought its nostalgic Microsoft Solitaire Collection to the world of Android and iOS.  The apps are already available for download.

Since Windows 3.0, 1990, Microsoft has bundled solitaire with Windows. The game “helped users transition to using a GUI”. It has since become a staple of the Windows operating system, and has always been confined to such. It has also resulted in employee productivity lost…

With the release of Windows 8, the app transitioned to Solitaire Collection. The is now made up of Klondike, Spider, FreeCell, Pyramid and Tripeaks games. The change also brought with it advertisements. Unless of course you shelled for the premium version. It’s this version that found its way to the stores on other platforms.

These versions share functionality with the Windows 10/Windows 10 Mobile version. Including achievements, cloud sync, and daily challenges. The UI is also very similar, as you can see in the Android screenshot below. Xbox live integration is also present, so you can log in and compete with your friends.

In celebration of this release, Microsoft is offering a free one month of premium. Normally, this would set you  back $1.99 a month, or $9.99 a year. Whoever will be paying this it’s just for the nostalgia, as there are plenty free alternatives.

You can download Microsoft Solitaire Collection iTunes or from Google play store. And waste a few more hours of your life on this game.
