Of course, the next generation of the s-pen will add new features. But Samsung outdid itself with the new feature. The air command option of the Note 5 has all the feature you need but Samsung is still bent on adding more.
From the leaks, we see that the air command still has the useful productive features such as the S Note, Screen Write, Action Memo and Start Select seen in the previous generation but there is also a new option that is called as “Glance.”
The feature concedes the user to record a portion of the screen and convert the final file into a GIF.
It also allows the user to section off a portion of the screen and change it into a video. Insiders reveal that this will be the only major feature that s-pen will be adding this year apart from improving the tip of the pen. Apparently, Samsung has learned a lot from the Apple pencil. It is also making sure that the pen gate that rocked the Note 5 last year doesn’t get repeated this time.
For readers who do not know what that means, the Note 5 had a peculiar problem. When the s-pen was inserted upside down into the slot provided for it. It would slide in smoothly, but while removing the pen, the top end would get stuck onto a latch that would trigger the air command options when the stylus is removed. When forcibly removed, the latch would break and the phone would permanently get damaged losing the ability to display the air command when s-pen is pulled out later.
By the looks of it, the s-pen would be the least exciting feature with the likes of USB Type-C and iris scanner making their debut in a Note phone.
