It is well known that Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S8 will have virtual home button, instead of the physical button. With that, they’ve put the fingerprint sensor at the back of the device, near to the camera. With the new home button now, the device could possibly feature a Pressure Sensitive home button. If all of this is true, then it can mean that with the way we press the button (more gently or hard) it will open different menus.
The company, Samsung Display, have been working on this for some period of time. They’ve been working on a Pressure Sensitive Oled display for the iPhone 8. They are also expected to be one of the biggest suppliers of displays for Apple’s first OLED iPhone. The future of iPhone devices might be based on OLED technology for all of their upcoming handsets.
The company has also reported that they are working to integrate a 3D Touch sensor in the OLED display. So far, only the partners of the company who were alongside Samsung at the MWC this year in Barcelona know more detailed info.
Also, this is not the first time that Samsung have made pressure sensitive OLED displays. They’ve done it previously for the Huawei P9.
It is now also expected that Samsung might bring this technology to their upcoming device, the Galaxy S8. Also, they might put the 3D Touch technology into their rumored Galaxy Note 8, and also to have a pressure sensitive home button. All of these information still remain unconfirmed by Samsung.
