Despite the recall of the Galaxy Note 7 and the huge loss from it, the company posted an operating profit of $2.50 trillion won in the final quarter of the last year. They even say that the company’s growth was higher due to the holiday season.
After the release of the Galaxy S7, the profitability of the company was growing year-over-year in the mid-range and low-end segments. The company also expects small growth this year, but they put they potential on Artificial Intelligence. That is why it is expected an AI-powered Galaxy S8 handset.
When it comes to question the innovative features and differentiated design, Samsung say that they are going to reinforce its market leadership. They have in plan to improve the competitiveness by adding many features such as water/dust resistance of the devices.
It is also in plan to release Samsung and Samsung Pay to additional markets. They also added that the consumer safety and product quality will be their top priority this year.
The company expects a demand for smartphones and tablets in the first quarter this year and increase shipments for the Galaxy A and Galaxy J. Their increased profit is expected to be mostly hit by the higher marketing expenditure.
