iPhone 6s Plus power button not working? Chances are the issue lies with the power button flex cable. Here's how to replace it to get your iPhone 6s Plus back in working order.
What you need
- Pry tool or guitar picks
- Paperclip
- Hair dryer or heat gun
- Spudger
- Tweezers
- Suction cup
- Small flathead screwdriver
- P2 Pentalobe screwdriver
- Small Phillips screwdriver
- Replacement iPhone 6s Plus power button flex cable
STEP 1: Remove the two screws adjacent to the charging port.
STEP 2: Use the heat gun to warm the front edges and loosen the underlying adhesive.
STEP 3: Place the suction cup near the bottom of the front screen, then insert the pry tool into the bottom seam. Slide the pry tool across the bottom, then up the side seams to separate the adhesive. Simultaneously lift the suction cup while you pry at the bottom seam to create separation, then lift the display assembly until it hinges at 90 degrees.
STEP 4: Remove the five display assembly bracket screws, then remove the bracket.
STEP 5: Use the spudger to disconnect the display assembly connectors, then remove the display assembly.
STEP 6: Remove the two battery cable bracket screws, then the bracket.
STEP 7: Use the spudger to disconnect the battery cable.
STEP 8: Use the tweezers to remove the tape covering the rear camera.
STEP 9: Remove the two camera bracket screws, then the camera.
STEP 10: Use the spudger to disconnect the camera cable and remove the rear camera completely.
STEP 11: Use the paperclip to remove the SIM card tray.

STEP 12: Remove the grounding bracket screw, then the grounding bracket.
STEP 13: Remove the two screws from the volume button cable bracket, then remove the bracket.
STEP 14: Use the spudger to disconnect the volume button cable, the cellular and NFC antenna cables, the power button flex cable, the interconnect antenna cable, and the charging port assembly cable from the logic board.
STEP 15: Use the tweezers to guide the NFC cable out of its clips.
STEP 16: Remove the three screws from the bracket located just above the right side of the battery, then remove the bracket.
STEP 17: Use the tweezers to guide the cellular antenna cable out of its clips.
STEP 18: Remove the screw located below the SIM card reader.
STEP 19: Lift and turn the logic board until you can use the spudger to disconnect the underlying WiFi antenna cable. You can now remove the logic board completely.
STEP 20: Remove the three power button bracket screws.
STEP 21: Remove the microphone bracket screw, then remove the bracket
STEP 22: Use the spudger to remove the flash.
STEP 23: Use the spudger to pry the power button flex cable off the rear case.
STEP 24: Insert the replacement power button flex cable, then follow these steps in reverse order to reassemble your iPhone 6s Plus.
