Flipsy.com shows you how to backup your iPhone 5c.

Want to make a backup of your iPhone 5c? Apple has made it super-easy with iCloud and iTunes backups, but they're not the only options you have. Here's how to backup your iPhone 5c the Apple way, plus five additional backup options for your consideration.

iCloud: The easiest iPhone 5c backup
  • Browse to Settings > iCloud > Backup OR Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup (prior to iOS8)
  • Turn iCloud Backup on
  • Select Back Up Now

After the first backup is created, future backups will be automatic (though you can come back and make manual backups any time). View backups at Settings > iCloud > Storage > Manage Storage.

iTunes backup
  • Connect your iPhone 5c to your computer and launch iTunes
  • Click File > Devices > Transfer Purchases and wait for the transfer to complete
  • Check the box to encrypt your backup, if you prefer; or leave it unchecked to make an unencrypted backup (if you encrypt your backup, do not lose your password or you will not be able to access your data)
  • Click Back Up Now

Alternative iPhone 5c backup options
  • Syncios: Syncios is a popular iTunes alternative with more options and backup management features
  • iMazing: This computer-based iPhone backup management software offers more control over what is backed up and what isn't
  • CopyTrans: Similar to the previous two computer-based backup suites, CopyTrans sends notifications to remind you to backup your iPhone 5c regularly
  • Easy Backup: Easy Backup is an app that only backs up your contacts. It's not a full-service solution, and there are many apps like it on the App Store
  • Shoebox: iCloud costs money once you exceed its 5GB storage capacity; if photos are putting you over the limit, you can turn off photo backups in iCloud and instead use Shoebox's unlimited free cloud photo storage

The best method for backing up your iPhone 5c is to enable iCloud backup and make regular local backups via iTunes. Then, choose at least one alternative backup option so you have redundant backups in the event of an emergency.
