Apple Likely to Get Rid of Headphone Jack from 2018 iPad Pro Models

No Headphone Jack in 2018 iPads

When Apple launched the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus without a headphone jack, everybody began to predict that Apple would bring this design to its Ipad also. However, Apple didn’t remove the headphone jack in its iPads released after iPhone 7. The company is now planning to get rid of headphone jack from its upcoming 2018 Ipad Pro models.

The latest reports from Macotakara say that upcoming iPad Pro devices from Apple will have slightly smaller bodies, a relocated smart connector, and no headphone jack.

No Headphone Jack in Future Apple iPad Pros: Macotakara

The Japanese site Macotakara says that new 10.5-inch iPad Pro will have dimensions 247.5mm x 178.7mm x 6mm. The current size of iPad Pro (10.5″) is 250.6mm x 174.1mm x 6.1mm.

Similarly, 12.9-inch iPad Pro will also see a remarkable change in dimensions. Currently, this 12.9-inch iPad Pro has dimensions of 305.7mm x 220.6mm x 6.9mm. This might change to 280mm x 215mm x 6.4mm thick.

Earlier, rumors were making rounds that Apple was planning to redesign its 2018 Ipad Pro Models, which might have slimmer bezels as you can find in iPhone X.

The reduction in bezel will enlarge the display of the iPads. Another important prediction is that the new iPad won’t have the Home button and it might flaunt TrueDepth camera for Face ID. Probably, Apple is planning to recreate its iPhone X charm in the upcoming iPad Pros.

The website also indicates that the future iPad Pros will not have a 3.5mm headphone jack. As mentioned above, Apple has dropped headphone jack with iPhone 7, and since then users were asked to use Bluetooth devices like AirPods along with lightning-based headphones.

iPad Pros 2018 may not have lightning to 3.5mm adapter. This leads us to believe the predictions of the analyst suggesting that 2018 iPhones will also come without an adapter.

Industry insiders believe that Apple might be facing space crunch in iPad Pro as the company is coming up with TrueDepth camera in the two devices.

Notably, Apple removed headphone jack from its iPhones to improve water resistance and to make space for internal mechanisms like a bigger battery, taptic engine, and the rear camera system.

Taking inspiration from its iPhone SE’s beveled edges, Apple will use a “diamond cut” for front and back of the future iPad Pros, the report says.

Relocation of Smart Connector, from the side to the bottom near the lightning port, signals the need for a new vertically oriented Smart Keyboard. We can only guess how this new keyboard will function as it might be an unstable orientation, particularly for the larger iPad Pro.

Your take??

Physical changes in iPad Pros and iPhones indicate that Apple has plans for complete change in the design of its tablets and mobile phones. Only time will tell whether Apple’s decision is right or wrong.
