Apps Name Stuck on com.apple.mobileinstallation on iPhone and iPad

To ensure Apps run smoothly on my iPhone, I keep them updated. Recently, some iOS app names got stuck on com.apple.mobileinstallation on my iPhone after I updated them.

The changed name of the apps showed both on the Home screen and Spotlight Search results. When I tried launching the problematic apps, they would immediately crash out. That's not all; I could not Delete those apps from the Home screen either. Thankfully, I discovered a couple of tricks (after a bit of search) that helped me troubleshoot this unusual error on my iOS device.

Solution #1: Offload the Faulty App

iOS 11 allows you to offload apps without deleting their documents and data. And when you reinstall the app, you get the option to recover the associated data. Head over to this post to know more about offloading apps.

Step #1. Open Settings app → Tap on General.

Step #2. Tap on iPhone/iPad Storage.

Step #3. Scroll down and tap on the app. Then, tap on Offload App and confirm it.

Solution #2: Delete the Problematic App and Reinstall It

If you aren't bothered by the documents and data, you can delete the app. It will help you recover some storage on your device.

Step #1. Launch Settings app on your iOS device → Tap on General.

Step #3. Next up, you need to find the app(s) named “com.apple.mobileinstallation” and tap on it → Now, tap on Delete App → Next, you have to confirm that you want to delete the app along with its associated documents and data.

Then, follow the same steps to get rid of other apps named “com.apple.mobileinstallation.”

Next, you can open App Store and download the apps.
