It’s no secret that iPhones have always got a stunning Camera. But the ability to leave Canon, which produces the top class camera, behind in terms of popularity is absolutely sensational.
Flickr, well-known image and video hosting site, has declared its annual list of the most popular camera of 2016. In top ten sources for photos, only two camera manufacturers namely Apple and Canon filled the entire list. Most surprisingly, iPhones have occupied as many as eight of the top ten slots.
Flickr’s 2016 Most Popular Camera: iPhone Dominates the List
As per the report, smartphones had the lion’s share of huge 48% of all the images uploaded to Flickr, up from 39% last year. DSLRs accounted for 25% of the images uploaded on the site, down from 31% last year. Comparatively, point and shoot accounted for 21%, down from 25% in 2015. Mirrorless was at 3% of photos uploaded in 2016.
Massive 47% of all Flicker users uploaded images to the site from an Apple device. The iPhone 6, 5s, and 6s have grabbed the top three positions.
With 24%, Canon occupied the second spot. The Canon 5D Mark III and 5D Mark II were able to get into the list at 9 and 10 spots respectively. With 18%, Nikon remained at the third position.
iPhone 7 and 7 Plus couldn’t break into the top three positions not because they don’t have superior cameras but because they arrived a bit late. The 5.5-inch phablet with dual camera and the ability to take photos with DSLK-like blur/bokeh effect would certainly have been at the top of the list.
We have found iPhone 7 Plus’ Portrait Mode amazing in capturing superb photos. If you have been impressed by the blur-effect of iPhone 7 Plus camera, head over to this post to use this feature even on your iPhone 7 or older devices like iPhone 5s, 6, 6 Plus, 5 SE.
