Razer Deathstalker Ultimate Keyboard

:)

For the LCD touchscreen Razer has released a freely available SDK (Software Development Kit) that allows developers to make dynamic and reactive applications that will display in the Screen area of the Keyboard. You might initially think that this is the only thing that sets the Deathstalker apart from its peers and fortunately you’d be wrong.

The Deathstalker Ultimate has a whole host of recognizable Razer features and a few new add-ons that are sure to be welcomed by Gaming enthusiasts. For those who have other Razer products you’ll instantly notice the braided cables, backlighting, and triple snake branding. Some of the newer features include a fixed wrist rest with a rubberized inlay, tri-color LED backlighting, fully customizable keysets, five additional macro keys, 10 key anti-ghosting technology, and an onboard macro recording interface.

Razer Synapse 2.0 is cutting-edge, intuitive software that functions as the Razer Deathstalker Ultimate’s brain, automatically syncing the gaming keyboard to a cloud server to download driver and firmware updates, while saving your individual settings. Sync your custom settings and macros automatically with this unified configurator, allowing customization of all your Razer products with a single login.

Razer DeathStalker Apps – This is a wonderful addition to our keyboard feature, but before I go review the apps available, I’ll go say what I think first. What I think is that this is another income generator for Razer, applications will always come from app stores, and there is no such this as a complete free app store (well unless you can Jailbreak this, right? hahaha). Now for the good part, let’s talk about what apps comes with your Razer DeathStalker.+

  • Gamer Timer –They name says it all, it’s a timer which you can use to time bosses, cooldowns, and many other more. You won’t be needing your mobile phones for timing anymore! HAHA!! But seriously, this is really a great app, but the only question would be is “Does it have an alarm or any sound/light indicator when the timer goes off?”.There’s also an app called Clock, which is basically a timer or stopwatch.
  • Screen Shot – An app that allows you to take screen shots and upload it on “Facebook”. What a unique and high-tech feature right? You won’t be needing to press your Print Screen button, ever again! Of course that was sarcastic, let’s see if this app is more than just a well dressed Print Screen.
  • Macro Reader – At last! Something worth our time to review. A gamer will always need a macro commands the get ahead of the game, specially when you are playing a MMORPG. What is does is, it records/plays your keystrokes and delay while on the game. It also have this visual interface on your SwitchBlade UI.
  • Trackpad and Numpad – Trackpad, for me is just an upgraded Touchpad, but nevertheless, it is very sensitive and have a great multi-touch function, you can also customize it and maybe perhaps add macro commands to it. If it does, that would be great! Imagine casting a combo skill with just a slide of a finger. The numpad says it all, it allows your SwitchBlade UI to become a fully functional numpad. Yes, by default, you don’t have a numpad on your keyboard.
  • Gaming Mode – Remember what I said on my Razer Arctosa Review? This is a feature that you should look for a gaming keyboard, it is just a basic feature that disabled the Window’s Key with just a single press. You can also choose to disable Alt+Tab and Alt+F4.
  • Social Media Apps– There’s actually 4 of them plus a browser app. But since our Razer DeathStalker Review is getting pretty long, I’ll just summarize it. You already know what a social media is, don’t you?  Facebook App– This app let’s you stay connected to your Facebook account via mobile. You can pretty much do all the Facebook’in from the SwitchBlade UI.

Twitter App – Allows you to quickly brag about your gaming status, by twitting it. Yeap, gamer’s love to brag and trashtalk. Just like the Facebook app, and all the other apps, you can do this while you are on game.

Gmail – Allows you to check and do pretty much all of e-mailing thing with your Google Mail account. Yes, again… It is on-the-fly e-mail checker, no need to switch tabs.

YouTube  – Well this isn’t the first of it’s kind, there’s a certain brand of Gaming Keyboard that also have an LCD attached to it and you can pretty much view videos on YouTube fine. Going back to this app, it allows you to search and play videos on YouTube using the SwitchBlade UI.

Browser – A keyboard with a built-in browser. Why? Well the only reason I can think of is to view walkthroughs and guides while playing. You’re not thinking of something else don’t you? I’m not really sure if it is flash enabled though.
