MOBILE PHONE Phishing, VISHING, SMISHING, SPOOFING

It is common that mobile service providers send SMS or call us for the purpose of informing offers or advertisements.But we have to be carefull because all that may be coming from a fraud entity.The SMS may contain a web url and pursuing that url we may land in trouble.The website we reaches via our mobile browser will grab our username , credit card number etc.

These types of fraud is commonly kown as PHISHING. Phishing by SMS is known as SMISHING. So unwanted SMS with a url in it ,should ever be avoided.

Another mobilephone fraud is VISHING., that is voice phishing..A computer generated sweet incoming voice call will lead us to trouble .

Spoofing is a fraud by means of sms. In this we get sms from any of the numbers of our phonebook . So we take it seriously.But the source of sms may be from a fraud base.They hack our our sms network.

Landline phone taping was not a new nowadays .But even mobile calls can be eavesdropped by a third person.Here the hackers Send Sms with a spyware .When we open the sms ,the spyware will be installed.Hacker can easily get all details without our prior knowledge by sms or call.

Anti Phishing Working Group is an agency which conducts studis on mobilephone frauds and phishing.Its study reveals worlds 9 % of the total phishing fraud happens in India
