Meizu 16X full review: The company has pulled off a stunner

Meizu has finally taken the wraps off the third smartphone in the Meizu 16 lineup of smartphones dubbed the Meizu 16X. The device is a mid-range Android smartphone and the price starts at $305.

Meizu 16X: Full specifications

Starting things off with the display, the Meizu 16X sports a 6-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with an under-display fingerprint scanner. There are no notch shenanigans played and we get a standard 18:9 aspect ratio display. The corners of the display are rounded which sums up to a beautiful viewing experience.

Out of the three color variants available (Black, White, and Gold), the Black color variant stands out as it succeeds to blend in the front camera and the sensors pretty well. You won’t even notice the secondary microphone grille at the top. Again, the color choice is fairly dependent on your own taste and we cannot say much about it.

At the back, we find a dual camera setup (20MP + 12MP) with an LED flash sitting right underneath it. The front camera is 20MP, the same as that of the Meizu 16.

Under the hood, the Meizu 16X is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 chipset coupled with 6GB of RAM and 64GB/128GB of internal storage which can further be expanded with the help of an external SD card.

The power button and the volume rocker are on the right side of the device whereas the SIM tray is on the left. Thankfully, there is a 3.5mm headphone jack as well as a USB Type-C charging port.

Moving to the Battery, we get a 3,000 mAh unit with support for quick charging. Considering the big display, the battery could have been better. Then again, the standard Meizu 16 also has the same 3,000 mAh battery and has performed decently in the battery tests so far. We can certainly expect the Meizu 16X to be equally decent.

Coming to the price, the 6GB/64GB variant of the Meizu 16X is priced at $305 while the 6GB/128GB one will cost you a bit more, $350 to be exact. Looking at the price difference, you are probably better off going with the 64GB variant only.
