PayPal has begun rollout of Samsung Pay support

samsung pay paypal

Last year, Paypal announced that it will begin rolling out its support to the Samsung Pay Wallet. After a year-long wait, the company has finally decided to push the feature across the devices which support the Samsung Pay.

This is good news for the Samsung users who use the wallet frequently as now they would be able to use their PayPal account natively from within the app.

PayPal and Samsung have had a strong partnership for several years now. In 2014, we worked with Samsung to enable mobile payments with just a fingerprint. The following year, PayPal was added as a payment method within Samsung Smart TVs. This next phase of our relationship combines our reach and leadership in technology and mobile commerce, bringing more choices and functionality to our mutual customers.

Finally, users will be able to use your PayPal account to make payment from your Samsung Pay. One would still receive the Samsung Pay Rewards in the process of doing so.

So far, the people relying on Google Pay could make use of their PayPal account to do transactions, but Samsung Pay is a relatively better and flexible option for payments owing to the fact that it has support for both NFC and MST.

How to add your PayPal account to Samsung Pay

In order to add your PayPal account to your wallet, you need to do the following:

  • Tap “+” to add a new payment method
  • Select “Add PayPal” under the “Add payment card” section
  • Enter your Samsung Pay passcode or biometric scan if asked
  • Press “Next” and create a PIN for in-store purchases
  • Select a Debit or bank funding source
  • Agree & Continue

And you are good to go. As the support is still rolling out, if you have not received the option in your app so far, you might have to wait it out for a couple of days to arrive in your Samsung device.
